If you want to preserve your health and avoid getting fat, eating healthy food is an absolute must. Yet, in today’s society, it seems as if it’s getting harder and harder to eat right since we’re surrounded by a variety of low quality food choices and enticing commercials that make it difficult to tell good food from bad.
In this article, I want to share 3 tips that you can use in your day to day life to eat healthy food. Use these and you will find it much easier to give your body the food it really needs.
1. Read product labels – Simple, right? Yet most of us do not do it. We base our shopping decisions on factors such as price and how the box looks. A simple glance at the product label on the back of each item will tell us a lot about what we’re about to be putting into our mouth.
The product label lists the number of calories and the nutrients this food contains. It’s quite easy to see how much fat, sugar, and artificial ingredients each item contains. Being informed is the first step towards a healthier diet.
2. Avoid frozen or canned food – I know these products make life easier. I know you do not have a lot of time to cook. What can I say? I think your health is worth the extra time and effort, do not you?
The facts are that fresh food, generally, is better for you than preserved or frozen food. It is simply less refined. Buying your food freshly usually means that it’s richer in nutrients, lower in chemicals, and overall better for you.
3. Drink it plain – What you drink is just as important to your health as what you eat. You need to make sure that you’re not drinking your calories and chemicals without even knowing about them.
A good rule of thumb to go by is to drink plain beverages. The plainer the better. Water is at the top of the list, followed by tea or black sugar and freshly squeezed juices (though these may be high in calories). Sodas, designer coffees, sugar-rich drinks, and energy drinks, often contain too much sugar, artificial sweeteners, or calories for your own good. So stick to plain drinks.
Follow these 3 tips and you will find it much easier to eat and drink healthy for the rest of your life.
