If you are like most of us then you enjoy the movies as much as the next person. Well, get ready to enjoy them even more with your family. I am talking about Drive-In movie theaters, you know like people used to go to back in the 50’s when they were popular. My family and I discovered drive-ins a couple of years ago when we were looking for something to do as a family. While doing a search online I came across this website that was about drive-ins (see link below). I had previously only seen them in movies and I did not even know that they still existed. Well, they do still exist, and we go to several of them each year starting in early spring when they open for the season. We look forward to going every Friday or Saturday night.
This year we even tried something different we decided to buy some family games to play while we were waiting for the movie to start. We like to get there plenty early so we can have time to play for awhile before the movie. We also like to get there early so that we can get a good spot, sometimes you might get a car in front of you and you can not see as well. Another great thing about going to the drive-in is that we bring our own food and have our own picnic, it also saves us some money. Also, drive-ins are a great value for the money, You get to watch two movies for the price of one. The first one is usually a kids or family movie, and the other is usually more for the parents. By this time the kids are usually sleepy.
The first movie starts as soon as it gets dark out, then there is a slight admission, in case you need to go to the bathroom or visit the concession stand. The drive-ins seem to be going away, although I do not know why my family and I love them. If we had the capital we would open one up ourselves. Like I said earlier we have found several that we visit through the year.
We live in the western suburbs of Chicago and we have several out this way that we attend. One that we go to is only about twenty minutes from our home. A couple of the others are about one and a half hours, but when we go to these we leave extra early and go bike riding and play in a nearby park.

Do not worry if you do not live in the metro Chicago area there are plenty across the United States. Just go to [http://www.driveintheatre.net] or http://www.driveinmovie.com. When checking out these websites make sure you call ahead of time to make sure that the theater is still in operation, as the websites might not get updated too often.
As I said before the drive-in is a great way to get the family out of the house and get them enjoying each others company. Two movies for the price of one you can not beat it.
