Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, is a woman who can not be defined or restricted by words, or may be the words that can define Kahlo’s beauty or strength has not been invented yet. She spent all her life in Mexico City, yet her fame and influence travelled across the globe and she is one of the most recognizable names in the world of art. Frida Kahlo painted self-portraits that had touch of Mexican and indigenous traditions and folk art. Though, her form of art is often referred as surrealism but Kahlo always negated it by saying that she paints her own reality and not dreams.
Apart from her artwork, her marriage and relationship with another influential Mexican artist Diego Rivera and her way of explaining it through words is another intriguing part of Kahlo that fascinates us all. All her life, Frida Kahlo suffered from multiple physical illnesses that overall effected her well-being and lifestyle, yet the indomitable spirit of this brave soul make her one of the idols of modern free women.
