It helps to have a list of things to do before you gym and after your gym – no matter whether you are a seasoned gym goer or a beginner. It can help you get the most out of your gym session and to avoid injuries. That’s why I have made a list of 5 things to do before the gym and 5 things to do after gym. Let’s check it out:

Before gym

1. Consult a doctor

You should always consult with your doctor before undertaking a new exercise program. It will make sure that you are ready to start exercising.

2. Drink a glass of water

Having a glass of water before gym will ensure that you are adequately hydrated and it will make you go the extra mile.

3. Plan workout

Plan your workout before you go to the gym. Plan what machine you are going to do or what body parts you want to exercise. It helps to keep track of your progress.

4. Eat an apple

An apple before gym can help you to exercise longer and to do higher intensity exercises. Make sure that you have one before every workout.

5. Warm up properly

You should always warm up before a workout to warm your muscles and to make them used to the exercise. Never just jumps into exercise, you may hurt yourself.

After gym

1. Stretch properly

You should always stretch properly after exercise when your muscles are still warm. You should stretch all the muscles that have worked in the exercises.

2. Pat yourself on the back

When you are done with your workout, give yourself a pat on the back to motivate yourself.

3. Drink a glass of milk

A glass of milk (or any other good quality protein) will be like fuel for the muscles – helping them grow and ensuring that you gain muscle.

4. Shower

A refreshing shower right after a hard exercise session will soothe your body and soul.

5. Massage all muscles worked

A good massage of all your muscles that have worked will prevent being too stiff the next day and your muscles will feel so good afterward – almost like a reward.

Hopefully, you now know what to do before and after a gym workout. Just remember these tricks with your next workout and you will have a more effective and safer workout. You will also have lots more energy and motivation for your workouts. Workout hard and enjoy every moment.
