If you ask this question to most people they will usually respond the best exercise to lose weight quickly is cardiovascular exercise. If you ask them what type of cardio to do the responses will vary veryly. Everyone has their favorite form of cardiovascular exercise that they will cling to and do day after day, week after week, year after year if they are diligent and committed.

Most people do not know enough about how to effectively challenge their bodies to get stronger, including their heart, and to maximize their calorie burning potential. Cardiovascular training is great to get your heart rate up and to help condition and strengthen your heart. It will also help you burn calories, lose unwanted body fat and weight.

The problem is that most people, once they find a cardio exercise that they like will stay with it long after if has stopped being effective in helping them reach their goals. Here’s what I mean – if I start to lift weights and in the beginning I struggle to lift 10lbs over my head, sooner or later it will get easier. After doing the exercise for a while lifting 10lbs will not be a challenge at all. My muscles will no longer be stimulated and they will stop growing.

The same applies for cardio training. If I run the same distance every day, or spend the same amount of time on the elliptical machine at the same intensity every day ever my body will accommodate the challenge and my progress will stop. My calorie burning potential will peak out and I will not lose more weight or body fat.

So the best exercise to lose weight is quickly called interrupted training . Interval training simply means varying the type and intensity of the cardiovascular exercises you are performing within the same exercise or session to session. One of the best combinations of interval training would be to perform some form

of cardiovascular exercise and weight training in the same workout session. Research has shown us that people perform this type of training burn calories far longer, even after the exercises are over, compared to those people that just perform cardio or weight training.

It is important in interval training to vary the types of exercises, the intensity and the duration at each exercise session. Varying these factors keeps your bodies muscles and cardiovascular system challenged so they will continue to get stronger and grow, in addition to maximizing your bodies calorie burning potential.
