The recent data released by OECD “Health at a glance 2015” and visualised by Statista reveals the list of developed countries where highest numbers of antidepressants are consumed. According to this data which was measured in the year 2013 Iceland tops the list of highest consumers of antidepressants. The second and the third country to consume most antidepressants are Australia and Portugal, respectively. The lowest consumer countries are Chile, Korea, and Estonia.

This trend is not a conclusive proof of the fact that the residents of these countries are depressed or their mental health requires additional help, but it also indicates the prescription tendency of the doctors of these countries. Also, the data for this survey is strictly limited to developed countries and USA is not a part of this survey.
