While growing up, the whole idea of becoming hip, trendy, and funk often subdued the charm and grace of Indian attires. Most of us often felt that Indian wear was more of a behenji look. No offence, but any given day, we feel more comfortable in maybe ripped denims than in salwars and kurtas!
But, thanks to Bollywood masala movies and beautiful Bollywood divas, we realised how elegant Indian wear looks. Be it Madhuri Dixit in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Kareena Kapoor Khan in Jab We Met or Anushka Sharma in Band Baaja Baraat. All we can say is gracias to all the ever-pretty divas who rocked the Indian wear like never before.
Deepika Padukone In Piku
In her tall frame, stunning looks and hourglass figure, Deepika Padukone styled palazzo pants, simple kurtis and a jooti (though not throughout the movie) so well. And we all know how pretty she looked.
The combination of printed silk stoles, kurtis with minimal work teamed with jeans/palazzo topped off with that round bindi was a breather from the regular salwar-kameez and churidaar kurta.

Her look in Kurbaan described Indian fusion in the best way. Junk jewellery, crepe suits, intricately embroidered dupattas, beautifully vibrant stoles, simple yet elegant skirts; her look was a perfect shift from the mainstream Indian wear.
Kangana Ranaut In Tanu Weds Manu & Tanu Weds Manu Returns
Churidar kurta, aviator, curly locks and a bit of junk jewellery thrown in, what a look that was. Not just this particular one, but overall, all the suits and sarees Kangana Ranaut wore in Tanu Weds Manu as well as the much-appreciated sequel, she looked like a queen. Who wouldn’t want to look like that?
Vidya Balan In Paa
Vidya Balan is known for her beautiful collection of silk and Kancheepuram sarees that she wears at award nights and other public appearances, but in Paa, it was a different ballgame altogether. The sarees that Vidya Balan wore in Paa in the second half were simple and elegant yet looked fabulous. She teamed her plain sarees with printed long as well as short sleeved blouses and the result was an extraordinary look. Anyone who doesn’t appreciate the blingy touch can bank on these.
Kareena Kapoor Khan In Bajrangi Bhaijaan
Other than the cute little kiddo who caught all the attention in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, it was Kareena Kapoor Khan’s fantastic Indian attires that made fashionistas go week in their knees. The collared kurti style, long kurtis, desi chappals and jotis, vibrant stoles, gorgeous jhumkas and the overall simple plain Jane look, Kareena carried this look so amazingly well. A perfect workplace or regular hangout look we say.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai sparked off three trends, the exuberant Karan Johar brand of cinema, the famous Anjali look and pretty shades of green, pink and striking white salwar kameez adorned by Rani Mukerji.
