If reports are to be believed, then Apple is fast moving towards developing their self driving vehicle. According to The Guardian, this much anticipated and written about car might come to reality sooner than expected.

The Guardian caught hold of a few documents after making request under a public records act which revealed many development aspects of this car. These documents unveil that in the month of May, engineers of Apple had a discussion with officials of GoMentum Station regarding its availability for testing. GoMentum is a former naval base located near San Francisco and it is currently a testing ground for various autonomous vehicles. This 5,000 acre high security facility claims to be the largest and safe test ground for cars.

One of the engineers reported to have stated that, “We would… like to get an understanding of timing and availability for the space, and how we would need to coordinate around other parties who would be using [it],”.

Though officially, the company has not confirmed anything yet, but it can be assumed that Apple’s self driving car is ready to be tested on road.

In fact, this May at the Code Conference 2015, Jeff Williams, Senior Vice President of Operations of Apple, responded to a question by saying that, “Well, the car is the ultimate mobile device, isn’t it? Look, we explore all kinds of categories, and we’ll certainly continue to look at those and figure out which ones are ones where we think we can make a huge difference.”

Earlier reports also indicate that Apple is in talks with car executives and also that it has been roping in many automobile experts from other progressive and established companies. Thus, it is more than likely that Apple is aggressively working towards this futuristic vehicle.

In fact, tech giants like Google, Uber, Tesla, Honda, Mercedes-Benz and other automobile companies are working on their self driving cars that might hit the road in near future. And, now with Apple’s self driving car joining the race, it seems the roads might be flooded by something like KITT (from the popular 80s TV series Knight Rider) soon.
