The newest edition of Surajkund International Crafts Mela had amazing things to offer. Every year, a beautiful potpourri of flavours, traditions and cultures around India and other nations come alive at Surajkund Mela. And this year was no different.

Started in 1987, the vision was to preserve arts and crafts and also promote skilled artisans and craftsmanship from different states of India. Surajkund Mela offers a platform to craftsmanship and weavers to directly exhibit their creations. In fact, the mela has been a huge hit amongst travellers and tourists besides foodies and shopaholics.

This time around, Telangana showcased an impressive variety of silk sarees from Pochampally, Narayanpet and Siddipet, and painted vases, ceramic, gold and silver jewellery were a hit at the Turkmenistan stall. One of the highlights of the cultural performances was Taiko, Japanese style of drumming. China and Japan were the focus nations of this year while Telangana was the theme state.

From the showcase of finest handloom, exhibits, and handicrafts to stunning cultural dance performances by renowned national and international folk artists, Surajkund Mela truly celebrates rich Indian culture and tradition.

Team SoPosted got a chance to capture the magnificent performances by musicians, singers, poets and cultural troupes. And the experience was mesmerising.
