Amazon, world’s largest online retailer, recently opened their first physical bookstore, named Amazon Books, in Seattle University Village area that will be selling books on the same cost as available on the website. Interestingly, this is where this company started their online bookstore 20 year back in 1995. On the basis of reviews and sales data collected from Amazon.com, Amazon Books will stock around 6000 books.

The store will have a shelf of bestsellers on the website and another shelf having the books that have been rated 4.8 stars and above on the site by the customers. Buyers will also get to read customers reviews places next to the books. Apart from books, the store will also let the customers try out Amazon electronic products, like Kindle, Fire Tablet, Fire TV, and others.

On a letter to customers posted on the website, Jennifer Cast, the Vice President of Amazon Books stated that,

“Amazon Books is a physical extension of Amazon.com. We’ve applied 20 years of online bookselling experience to build a store that integrates the benefits of offline and online book shopping.”

About the device display Cast mentioned,

“At Amazon Books, you can also test drive Amazon’s devices. Products across our Kindle, Echo, Fire TV, and Fire Tablet series are available for you to explore, and Amazon device experts will be on hand to answer questions and to show the products in action.”

Ironically, when Amazon started their online book store a number of physical bookstores had to put up the shutters permanently and now this e-commerce giant is venturing into the traditional mode of bookselling.
