Work can be a drag – let’s admit it. There are Mondays that would give you the blues and there are times when you would wish for nothing more than a good nap right at your office desk.

A Virgin group employee in Australia took this feeling quite seriously, or so it appears. He decided he had had enough of the daily grind and followed his heart to his couch where he dozed off like a baby.

Little did he know that this ‘innocent’ act would turn out to be his worst nightmare. For, when he opened his eyes, he saw none other than the Virgin group’s founder Richard Branson by his side. Think it’s a joke? Read on.

The billionaire entrepreneur recently visited the company’s Sydney office and found one of his employees happily napping away on the couch. He took a photo of the faux pas and then blogged about it.

The photo shared on his blog shows the businessman crouching next to the sleeping employee — dressed in his suit and waistcoat, with his badge.

“I popped into the office and the airport to say hello and check in to see what the team are up to. This guy wasn’t up to much at all – I caught him sleeping on the job! Wow, did he get a shock when I woke him up,” the billionaire wrote in his blog “An Australian adventure”.

However, so engrossed was the employee in his nap that he actually thought Branson standing next to him was a silly dream and acted accordingly – went back to sleep.

“He must have thought he was dreaming because he went straight back to sleep. To be fair, he was on standby, getting some much needed rest,” Branson, who is known as the founder of Virgin Group, which comprises more than 400 companies, wrote further.

Branson was in Sydney for a few days as part of a Virgin Australia visit.

He also wrote: “It’s always great to travel to Australia. Every time I step off the plane at Sydney airport, I kick myself for not having booked to stay for a month. Having just spent a few days visiting our wonderful companies, I can say that the spirit of Virgin is alive and well Down Under.”
