At least a dozen people were injured after dense fog led to the collision of several vehicles on the busy Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao this morning, police said today.
Around ten cars collided due to reduced visibility in Uttar Pradesh, which has also affected railway services in the state. Over 18 trains were cancelled, 28 were delayed and three were rescheduled due to fog in several parts.
Several people were injured in the incident which took place near Bangarmau in Unnao district.
“Pile-up of around a dozen vehicles took place early this morning on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Jogikot village under Bangarmau police station. Around a dozen people have sustained injuries in the accident,” said Additional Superintendent of Police Ambrish Bhadauria.
“The injured persons were administered first aid at the community health centre in Bangarmau, and were subsequently sent home,” he informed.
On November 8, a video went viral showing several speeding cars ramming into one another, while people on the footpath were seen shouting and requesting the drivers to slow down, on the Agra-Noida Yamuna Expressway due to low visibility. However, it was later found that the video was shooted last year.
